Architecture
The foundation to all my creativity is through architecture and building. Prior to becoming a fine artist I renovated historic and landmarked buildings and built new structures of distinction. From a young age I worked on all aspects of the construction process. Learning building methods, materials and design has also been essential to my sculpture career. Initially without being fully conscious of the effect of good design I slowly became aware of the evocative response to my projects.
Art is not something collected or a decorative element to a house. My Architectural projects are living, breathing, functional sculptures called home, cherished and loved.
Architecture and fine art are inseparable. As evolutionary beings we naturally strive for beauty and form of all manners, the pursuit of this exists in all of us and the achievement of this is excellence. I consider my building projects as functional art pieces that have an impact on individuals as well as entire communities.
New in 2023/24, inspired by the richness of Mexico culture and design, the second phase of Casa Suenos is underway. Alongside my fine art this culminates the circle of merging art and architecture. Ongoing projects include the Eldorado Springs Art Center and my home overlooking the San Francisco Bay.
